Touch of Brass was started by trumpeter Gil Garcia in 1988. After Gil "retired" from 31 years of college and public school teaching, he and his wife Susan (who is now a retired trumpet artist) decided to form a quintet, since so many talented brass players are available in northern Colorado. Since its inception, Touch of Brass has been in demand for recitals, weddings, church services, Christmas and Easter programs, public school concerts, and more. The group has played for CSU graduations each fall and spring for over 15 years. Other performances have included a Colorado Music Educators' Association Convention in Colorado Springs and a Master Recital at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. Talented musicians abound in northern Colorado, and Touch of Brass consists of five of the best. For their biographies, see The Musicians. To hear samples of the Touch of Brass in performance, see Samples. If you are interested in having Touch of Brass play for your event, contact Gil Garcia. |
